20 Downtown Eastside Poets Will Participate in V125PC

The Vancouver 125 Poetry Conference is pleased to announce that 20 poets from Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside neighbourhood have received bursaries to participate in the conference free of charge. A roundtable event is being planned by DTES Heart of the City with Vancouver Poet Laureate Brad Cran and poet Fred Wah following the Vancouver 125 Poetry Conference. Everyone is welcome to attend.

As part of the year-long celebration of Vancouver’s 125th birthday, the City of Vancouver is hosting one of the largest poetry conferences in Canadian history from October 19 to 22nd. 20 poets from the Downtown Eastside will be attending to take in the discussions so they can refine their craft and report back and tell us how the experience shaped their ideas around contemporary poetry in the Downtown Eastside. Join Governor General’s Award winning poet Fred Wah and Vancouver Poet Laureate Brad Cran as they lead a roundtable discussion on contemporary poetry and its craft as practiced in the Heart of the City.
